Creston singers performed to a standing ovation at Carnegie Hall recently.

Creston singers Alexandra Ewashen, David Hammond, and Sue Jorgensen joined the BOUNDLESS vocal ensemble from Bonners Ferry in a performance of works by composer Ola Gjeilo at Carnegie Hall in New York City on April 22.

BOUNDLESS was invited to perform as part of a mass choir under the direction of Maestra Irene Messoloras. BOUNDLESS is directed by Vicki Blake Thompson. This was their second Carnegie Hall performance.

The performance received a standing ovation and wonderful reviews.

“It is always so exciting for us to make music in a venue like this and with an orchestra as well as choir,” said Vicki Blake Thompson. “The Twilight Mass, which was our primary work is not something which could be sung with our local ensembles. At times there were 12 vocal parts.

“We were joined by choirs from across the U.S. to create a 200 voice choir which resounded vibrantly in the great acoustics of Carnegie.”

“Our choirs will be starting up again this fall and Creston singers are welcome to join us. We rehearse in Creston on Tuesday evenings, starting the first week in September.”

Performances will be the weekend of Oct. 18-20. Scores and parts recordings will be available in July. Three different choirs: a men’s ensemble, a women’s choir SPIRITSONG, and BOUNDLESS will each share four to five songs.
